Wakefield Sculpture Trail (FREE EVENT)

September 16, 2023

Enjoy a variety of welcome events to celebrate the installation of the Wakefield Sculpture Trail.

The Wakefield district is one of Yorkshire’s leading cultural destinations. The city is known especially for sculpture, being the birthplace of Barbara Hepworth and Henry Moore. It is the only city outside London to have two Art Fund Museums of the Year: The Hepworth Wakefield and Yorkshire Sculpture Park.

The Wakefield Sculpture Trail is an exciting series of sculptures coming soon across Wakefield city centre, offering a unique opportunity for everyone to experience and enjoy world-class art. The sculptures have been created by artists Annie Morris, Andy Holden, Halima Cassell, Jason Wilsher-Mills and Ro Robertson especially for the place, its history and communities and are here for everyone to enjoy.

Over the summer, explore the sculptures and take part in creative activities with a celebration event on Saturday 16 September to welcome the sculptures to their new home of Wakefield.

All events are FREE and suitable for all ages.

Star Bereavement have contributed to the sculpture trail using movement to depict grief and bereavement.
