Like many people, my entry into the Third Sector was accidental rather than deliberate, but I often reflect on what a fortunate accident that was. Since 1998, I have enjoyed every day, working in a number of corporate and operational leadership roles at a strategic level, and have been the Chief Executive of Community Transport since 2013.

I have held a number of Trustee roles with a wide range of Third Sector organisations over the last 25 years, currently as a Trustee of Age UK Wakefield District and previously as a Director of Mobility Matters.  I also volunteer with a gardening group in my local area, improving common spaces and supporting older residents to participate in shared learning and experience whilst remaining active.

First Degree – Earth Science

Masters Degree – Human Resource Management

Certificate in Professional Competency Road Haulage

Various leadership courses including risk management, change management, management of data, leading safeguarding.

Experience of leading a third sector organisation has been over the previous eleven years, but built on a further 15 years in senior roles within the charity sector.

I have been a Trustee of several third sector organisations over many years, with overall responsibility for the risk management and compliance of service delivery for grant funded projects and services.

My 25 years’ in the voluntary sector has afforded the experience of securing and managing large scale grant funded projects, both independently and as lead partner with other delivery providers (Lotteries, local authority grants, European regional Development Fund and European Social Fund). Those grants have range in value from £1,000 to £3,000,000.
